Training Workshops

Multi-Organizational Training

OFMP works with regionally-based NGOs (i.e. Southeast Asia) around the world to teach a 5 day series of trainings on:

  • photography
  • video
  • social media
  • writing track (we are in the process of developing this last track)

By the end of the week, the expectation is that each training participant will have created a stand alone storytelling piece, whether individually or with a team, which they will present to the rest of the class. These projects may take the form of a photo-essay or a short film. Participants should shoot material any time before or after daily trainings, and use whatever appropriate technological tools they already have handy (i.e. smart phones, point-and-shoot cameras, video cameras, DSLRs, etc.) OFMP will provide participants with free editing software to use and will assist participants in using the software accordingly.

Most days will focus primarily on one track, but OFMP will create blocks of time for participants to have hands-on photography and video sessions, as well as an entire day to work on their projects in class.

On the final day after editing, the class will come together to screen each project. OFMP will give constructive critique and positive feedback on the projects, and invite participants to also provide commentary on each other’s work.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop where multiple organizations would attend, please email The Training Coordinator at info@onfieldmedia.org with the desired location of workshop, a list of organizations possibly attending and a brief description of each along with websites if available.

Organizational Training

Much like the week-long conference OFMP provides, these individual organization trainings will cover the same key components:

  • photography
  • video
  • social media
  • writing track (we are in the process of developing this last track)

This particular workshop format, however, lends itself well to more individualized training, allowing for OFMP to work with a single NGO or social enterprise that seeks one-on-one support.

The participating NGO will commit to creating a storytelling piece that they can potentially use for as part of their organization’s marketing collateral. This will require a much more in-depth, hands-on analysis of the organization’s mission and purpose, as well as a careful study of the ways in which the organization has documented its own work, to-date.

Further, much more attention will be provided towards developing a clear social media strategy for the organization to employ, with the purpose of disseminating it’s story through numerous platforms, and using multiple mediums, namely – photos, videos, and the written word.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop for your organization, please email The Training Coordinator at info@onfieldmedia.org with the desired location of workshop, a brief description of your organization including website if available.
